Life at QEGS Sixth Form
The ethos of QEGS Sixth Form is one of high expectations and achievement, so that all students reach their full potential in a supportive environment. In our Sixth Form, students flourish as confident, intelligent, resilient and ambitious young adults. Equal importance is placed on both academic achievement and personal development. As well as being the final stage of the school journey for QEGS Year 11 students, we offer the perfect setting for new students to join us in the Sixth Form.
We ensure a smooth transition from Year 11 into the Sixth Form so that students become independent learners with highly effective study skills. Our Sixth Formers are an inspiration to the younger students and participate regularly in whole school events acting as ambassadors and role models. They are encouraged to make the most of the wide variety of leadership and co-curricular opportunities available to them. QEGS Sixth Form students achieve outstanding results. With expert support from teaching staff and the Sixth Form team, they are able to progress to their chosen universities, apprenticeships and careers.
The Sixth Form benefits from being close to the amenities of High Barnet as well as excellent transport links via London Underground (Northern Line), New Barnet Railway Station and multiple bus routes that stop directly outside the school.

Lucy - Head Girl
It is an absolute privilege to be serving as Head Girl of Queen Elizabeth’s Girls’ School. Since walking through the doors for the first time in 2019, QE has given me so many opportunities to learn, develop and grow, both academically and as an individual. It has been home to some of my fondest memories, such as rounders tournaments, sports days at Saracens Stadium and incredible trips. The guidance and support from the teachers has shaped me into the outgoing, confident and hardworking individual I am today, giving me the ambition to pursue my passions in History and Sociology, which I hope to achieve a degree in.
Within my role as Head Girl, I plan to expand mentoring programmes offered across the school and emphasise the importance of female empowerment, particularly with regard to ‘breaking the glass ceiling’ and ensuring women feel equipped with the strength and skills necessary to pursue their passions, whatever their specialism. Having attended symposiums with the International Coalition of Girls Schools, I learnt how crucial gender equality is, particularly within the workplace, and I want to use these experiences to inspire the next generation to grow into ambitious and confident individuals, as QEGS has done for me.
Outside my role as Head Girl, I also run a History club and partake in Pledge an Hour where I assist with a history lesson in KS3 once a fortnight. Outside of school, I am a Cadet Flight Sergeant which has given me the skills to amply lead and support those around me, as well as enabling me to explore different fields such as Cyber, Radio, First Aid, and Music.
QE Girls provides students with a nurturing environment where they are taught to approach challenges with a readiness to learn, being encouraged to excel whatever their aspirations. As a student body, our peers are our biggest fortification and our teachers are our loudest supporters, dedicated to helping us achieve our goals and find our voices. It is due to this that I am able to have the chance to maintain the school's ethos of kindness, inclusivity and respect as well as building a legacy to aid both current and future generations of students.
Tiffany - Deputy Head Girl
QEGS has provided me with thorough academic and pastoral support to shape me into the ambitious and determined student I am today. Being in a school which encourages students to pursue their own interests, I am surrounded with like minded individuals who are always on a journey to develop and pursue their own goals. Our teachers’ guidance is created through their passion for their subject, their determination to witness student success and their venture to improve student wellbeing. This hard work from teachers translates into the hard work I exude in my Geography, French and Politics A-Levels. I aim to study Geography at university as I have a global minded approach to problem solving. I also utilise this skill within the school community - this year I hope to work alongside the Heads of Houses’ to help further connect our students and staff, as well as fundraise for causes which affect both our school and the wider world. In my own local community, I am organising a youth centre in Barnet. I am so pleased to be a Deputy Head Girl this year in order to contribute to the community that has given so much for me.
Olivia - Deputy Head Girl
I have always loved learning and my 7 years at QEGS have been no different. I am currently studying History, Politics, and English and plan to pursue a degree in Politics and International Relations. Being a student at QEGS has given me incredible teachers that are passionate about their subjects and offered me a vast array of opportunities to further engage my interests, including history and drama. I was able to direct and partake in multiple school plays and have been invited to visit the Auschwitz-Birkenau memorial. One of my favourite school memories was our Year 12 trip to Paris or the Year 10 trip to the trenches in Belgium. It has been an honour to serve as a Deputy Head Girl leading and coordinating opportunities and experiences for the rest of the school community, such as Halloween discos and World Book Day. QE Girls has allowed me to learn in a supportive and safe environment which allowed my ambition to grow. Preparing to leave QEGS for university, I feel confident, dedicated, and ready to enter the bigger world ahead and make a positive impact. I can truly say that my time here has been filled with hard work, fun, and inspiration.
